F.A.Q. Spoke Calculator

FAQ: What is up with your ERD's. Why are they different than manufactures specifications?

Answer: When I designed the spoke Calc program I made it so the nipple head was accounted for in the program. Normal ERD's account for the nipple height. So if you are going to use a manufactures ERD subtract 4mm. The new Spoke Calc program will account for the proper ERD standard. Here is a quick Video to show you how we measure the rims ERD.

FAQ: When are you going to update your data base with more rims? I found the hub but no rim :( ...

Answer: We updated the Spoke Calc databae all the time. However it was never our intention to include all makes and models. If you have the measurments to either the rim or the hub you can input them directly into the empty fields without selecting from the  data base. Here is a Video Tutorial I made to show how this works.

FAQ: Why do you choose lock nut to flange when many manufacturers show hub center to flange?

Answer: This is the way I learned. That being said, when the new Spoke Calc program is released it will take into account both methods.

FAQ: If I have a 32 hole wheel do I have to select 16 hole drilling or 32 hole drilling?

Answer: Always use the full number not the half. So in this case 32 hole.

FAQ: Can I calculate straight pull hubs on your spoke calculator?

Answer: Yes it can however it requires some additional steps. I will add a tutorial shorlty. The new Spoke Calc program will have an option for these additional steps.
